A roboticist is an expert who builds, maintains, repairs, reprograms, and modifies robots of all kinds. A trained roboticist understands not only hardware actuators, databases, and decision trees, but also imaging and representation programs that permit robot perception and social programming that oversee robot interaction with sentient beings. In a way, the job combines all the most difficult aspects of engineering, programming, and psychology. Independent robots that take up roles as roboticists excel in all categories save the last.
