====== Taurean Star Republic ======

The Taurean Star Republic fell victim to its own graft, deceit, corruption and over reliance on the [[Thuldan Empire]]. With a long tradition of bribing Taurean Senators, Tribunes and Consuls, the Thuldans undercut every element in the stability of the Republic. By providing “up-to-date” ships and “top notch” intelligence on the [[Sultanate of Fomalhaut|Sultanate]], the Thuldans led the Republic to act as a puppet regime, following the Thuldan line without hesitation. After the start of [[GW2]], the Taureans launched a proxy war for the Empire against the Sultanate of Fomalhaut. Both nations were disagreeably surprised at how effectively the Sultanate countered every move the Taureans made in space, and visited mayhem up-close-and-personal in planetary campaigns. The Taureans were driven back within their own borders and began steadily loosing ground.

It was at this point that the Thuldans sprang their trap, ripping through the remains of the Taurean defenses and charging straight into Sultanate territory. In a matter of months, both nations collapsed, too damaged by their own fighting to resist. A limited faction of the Republic managed to escape to sanctuary in [[Union of Sol|Solar]] territory before fleeing from [[Stellar Ring|the Ring]] to [[Places|the Rim]] to escape the Thuldan onslaught.
	
Taurean heroes have adapted the duplicitous nature of their nation’s politics into their very world view. The remnants of Taurean territory were ceded to the Concord to form much of the [[Concord Taurus Protectorate]]. The much neglected and maligned [[Taurean Star Intelligence Agency]] also became the core of the [[Concord Investigative Bureau]].
