The homeworld of the weren species, Kurg presents a cold, harsh environment. Temperate regions exist only at the immediate areas near the equator, and even then, only in the summer. Town-dwelling weren populate these areas, while more traditional nomadic clans occupy the arctic regions to the north and south.

The Orlamu Theocracy maintains a constant quarantine upon Kurg. Rather than simply confining the weren to their homeworld, the purpose behind this measure actually serves to prevent outside influences from destroying their culture and society. To this end, the Orlamu have slowly exposed the weren of Kurg to more advanced technology over the last 250 years.

This artificially induced “renaissance” has now placed Kurg‟s technology level at approximately that of 17th century Europe on Earth. Fields such as medicine and art typically receive a greater concentration by the Orlamu than firearms and mass reactors. Officials from the Council of Education‟s Weren Affairs Subcommittee thoroughly check the technical inventory of any ship bound for Kurg. Church officials have also assured very severe penalties for anyone smuggling illicit trade goods there, including forfeiture of ship and goods on top of very long prison terms for all parties involved.

Sentinel Station orbits the planet, serving as the final checkpoint for inbound vessels. Any rogue starships attempted to run the blockade are either destroyed by the station‟s considerable arsenal, or crippled by the fighter squadrons kept in its military docking bays. Sentinel Station plays home to a few hundred military personnel, but holds very little living space for guests, encouraging visitors to go about their business and depart. The station also contains Tinnale‟s drivesat operations and crew.

Planet-side, a council of the major weren clans rules Kurg. Twenty clans currently have established membership there, with 12 among the town-dwellers and 8 from the nomadic clans of the north and south. The Orlamu take only an advisory role in the council‟s affairs, but have occasionally instituted laws allowing for armistices between warring clans, an exchange of prisoners, and cultural preservation areas in the polar-regions. Allehundra Cornejio (Hf/Orlamu/DCS-9) is the official System Intendent of Tinnale, but not of Kurg itself. The weren maintain independent representation there. Cornejo, however, has full command of all Orlamu operations within the system, including passage to and from Kurg. Allehundra maintains her operations from Sentinel Station, and answers to Prelate Brian Hayoto, her predecessor and the Chairman of the Weren Affairs Subcommittee of the Council of Education.
