SPECIAL ROBOT FEATS

Following are special robot feats that are not “purchased” in the normal manner. Rather than selecting one of these feats as a feat earned through level advancement, a bonus feat, or featware, the robot gains these feats in the manner explained in the feat description.

COMMAND CODES

A preset command code ensures that the robot follows commands issued only by the authorized operator. This code is set when the robot is first activated, and can be reset at any time. The code can be hacked with a DC 35 Computer Use check.)

The operator can instruct the robot to accept commands from other users. The robot can be instructed to follow the commands of a specific person (who must be present to provide a voice sample) or to follow the commands of anyone.

This feat is installed during the robot’s manufacture and has a purchase DC of 12.

Prerequisite: Robot, robolink.

Benefit: The robot ignores all commands from any operators who do not first issue the correct command code.

ROGUE ROBOT (PL 6)

Generally, robot heroes are assumed to either have an owner or to have purchased their freedom. A robot with this feat is not under anyone’s control. It has developed its own system of values and goals, like any other autonomous being.

A heroic robot may choose this feat at character creation for “free,” or select it later as an earned or bonus feat. In some cases the GM may allow a robot to go rogue due to hacking, damage to or corruption of its programming or processors, or some other unusual event.

Prerequisite: Robot, Int 5+.

Benefit: The robot can ignore commands given to it or follow them, according to its whims. Even if the robot is normally controlled with a remote or a robolink, it has the option of ignoring signals sent to it by such devices.

Normal: A robot without this feat must follow the commands of its owner and authorized operators.
